Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at info@nurug.co.uk if you cannot find an answer to your question.

- Measure the total size of your room (Length x Width)

- Consider if you want the rug to cover most of the room or a specific area within the room

- In larger rooms, with a large rug, consider leaving at least 20 - 30 cm around the perimeter of the room to frame the room nicely

-In smaller rooms, a larger rug can help to make the space feel larger

We offer several options when it comes to making rugs. The most populat options are Tape edging and Whipping. Take a look at each option below and examples at the bottom of this page!

- Whipping : Also known as over-locking and serging. This type of finishing is often the most cost effective, however is certanly not a budget look. With premium carpet, this type of finishing can give a semless transition from carpet to edging by utilising a complimenty colour, or a small feature edge using a contrasting colour.

- Tape Edging : Also known as cotton border or wide tape edging. This type of finish is a premium edge offering a huge selection of tape styles and colours and application metods, making a rug your own custom creation. See just a few of the options below.

- Automotive tape edging - Also known as narrow tape edge binding. This type of finish is very popular in the caravan / motorhome scene. Think of tape edging with the same width as whipping. This is a very durable edge, best suted for areas where alot of trafic is expected. Although we call it an "automotive edging" this type of finish can be utilised anywhere thoughout the house or even outdoors!

Edging materials covers the edge of a carpet and only adds a very small amount of material to the edge of a carpet, ranging from 1 to 2 millimetres. Take for example, a carpet cut to 3 meters by 3 meters (3 x 3) would be the same size (~ +/- 2mm) once the edging material is added.

There are no limits to size of bespoke rugs we can offer and while most shapes are possible, we would always advise calling/emailing to discuss your bespoke project

- Make sure to consider the layout of furniture within the room.

- When placing all of the furniture on a large rug, this creates a luxurious, warm space for seating areas.

- When you place the front legs of furniture on a rug, it creates a versatile option while continuing to show off more of the flooring underneath the rug.

- When setting a rug under a dining table, consider if you would like the rug large enough for being seated on the rug or just the front feet of the chairs.
